My name is Avonte Hartsfield, single foster dad and owner of Rolling Roots. I grew up in the system as a foster child, and that experience shaped my outlook on life. Every day I want to strive to make the world a better place, and I choose to put that in action through food. I have worked in restaurants for 9 years, starting as a dishwasher and working my way up to own my own business.
I have taken my experiences working and consulting for restaurants, and hit the ground running. I started in November 2019 at farmers markets, and just when I was turning a profit, the global pandemic happened, leaving me scrambling as I just left my full time job! I had to regroup and start the food truck, birthing Rollin Roots.
The truck is fairly new, however it has been accepted by the community with open arms. There aren't too many all vegan food trucks, and none serving up the flavor that we dish out! My only goal as an all vegan truck is to show people that vegan food can be good, and to get everyone to eat less meat. Even one meal replaced with a vegan meal makes a huge, impactful difference. And if you eat what i'm serving up then you will make it a regular habit.
I am happy to do my part for the community, by feeding the homeless at least once a month with my organization Dine With Dignity (@veggiegangmeals on instagram) I can do a small part to lift my community up. I want to show the kiddos I take in, that no matter what hand you are dealt in life, you can truly overcome any obstacle. I am living proof of that.
